Warm Up the CT Scanner; I’m Going to the ER!
Learning Objectives:
· To recognize and differentiate when imaging is necessary in presenting the patient to the ED.
· To appropriately convey to the patient when and why more tests (imaging) is necessary or why more tests are not necessary.
Accreditation Statements:
The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. MAOPS designates this program for a maximum of .75 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation.

Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare
Dr. Jones is the staff radiologist for Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri. He received his D.O. degree from ATSU – Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed a fellowship in Anatomy and Osteopathic Theory and Methods from the same. He is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Radiology. In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Jones is very active in organized medicine and the Missouri Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons. He is a past president of that organization and has served in numerous leadership capacities. In 2015, he was recognized by his peers with the Wilber T. Hill, D.O., FACOFP dist. Distinguished Service Award.

Matthew Grounds, DO is a graduate of the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and is board certified in emergency medicine through the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians. After graduation, Dr. Grounds moved to Joplin, Missouri where he currently serves as the Freeman West Emergency Department Medical Director and the Assistant Director of the Emergency Medicine Program with Freeman Health System.
