What process improvements are underway in Arizona to help with the maternal mortality rate. Dr. Gray will answer that question and more.
Educational Objectives:
- Share the trends in maternal mortality in the nation and our state
- Outline the process improvements are underway in the state of Arizona
- Illustrate the role of substance abuse and obesity as it relates to maternal mortality
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). The Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association (AOMA) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians.

Kendra Gray, DO, FACOG is a board-certified OB/GYN and Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellow at the University of Arizona College of Medicine at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix where she also completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She attended Midwestern University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale for Medical School. She is the clerkship director for the OB/GYN program at A.T. Still University College of Medicine in Mesa and is an active adjunct faculty member both at her alumni college as well as the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Dr. Gray has completed award-winning research related to various topics in women’s health and has current research projects aimed at predicting preterm birth using uterine electromyography. She has a particular passion for implementation of multidisciplinary quality improvement projects related to maternal trauma and maternal obesity. Much of her inspiration comes from the time she spends serving on the Perinatal Maternal Mortality Review board for the State of Arizona. She has had the pleasure of serving on the AOMA Board of Trustees both as a resident representative and now a member at large. Dr. Gray has lived in Phoenix for the past 16 years with her husband, Jonathan, 9-year-old daughter, Lydia, and 4-year-old son, Roman. She was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio but is now proud to call Arizona her home.
