In this lecture, Ms. Eckerle provides general information on physician prescribing practices and limitations for controlled substances.

It is the policy of the IOA that any physician dissatisfied with the CME program will be issued a refund upon request, and no CME credits will be reported to the AOA. Complaints on Evaluation Forms also are taken into consideration when planning future CME programs and may lead to changes in the format or content.

Ms. Eckerle is a partner in Krieg DeVault’s health care and real estate practice groups. Within the healthcare industry, Ms. Eckerle focuses her practice on providing regulatory, compliance and corporate advice to physicians, physician groups, pharmacies, on-site employer healthcare clinics and other healthcare institutions. She counsels these clients on an array of regulatory matters, such as the prescribing and dispensing of pharmaceuticals, occupational health and wellness initiatives, reimbursement issues, fraud and abuse issues and licensure matters. In addition, Ms. Eckerle counsels healthcare entities on HIPM, HITECH and state privacy laws, including the identification, investigation and remediation of breach incidents, compliance programs, audits and enforcement actions as well as assist these clients with health information technology issues. She also works with these same providers on physician recruitment and employment agreements, non-competition and non-solicitation issues, supply chain contracts, practice group acquisitions and telemedicine and telepharmacy issues.
