The Intersection of Healthcare & Human Trafficking: An Opportunity for Intervention – Jordan Greenbaum

This session provides an overview of child trafficking for sex and labor, followed by a discussion of recommended strategies for clinicians to recognize and appropriately respond to suspected child trafficking/exploitation. The speaker takes a very practical approach to the healthcare response to child exploitation, emphasizing how to interact with trafficked patients and those at risk using a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive approach.
Learning Objectives:
• Better identify patients at risk of labor or sex trafficking.
• Use human trafficking screens to assess the risk of exploitation.
• Apply trauma-informed, rights-based strategies when working with vulnerable patients.
• Work with trafficked patients to determines future safety and health needs.

The Georgia Osteopathic Medical Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of 1.0 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

Grievance Policy:
All grievances should be in writing and should specify the nature of the grievance. Initially, all grievances should be directed to GOMA’s Executive Director, who will then forward said grievance to the CME Planning Committee. All grievances will receive an initial response in writing within 30 days of receipt.
