Description
Approximately 29 million Americans have diabetes and it is a leading cause of death in the United States. Dr. Allison Peckumn presents the new and emerging therapies for the management of diabetes.
Objectives:
- Share new medications available for the treatment of diabetes mellitus
- Outline new technology and its role in the management of diabetes
- Create a better understanding of the current management of diabetes
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). The Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association (AOMA) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians.

Allison Peckumn, DO, FACE is board certified in internal medicine and endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. She recently left a position as endocrine faculty and interim program director for the endocrine fellowship at Banner University Medical Center – Phoenix, and this year has begun working for Abrazo Diabetes Care Centers. Dr. Peckumn received her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency and chief residency in internal medicine as well as her fellowship in endocrinology at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center. She is also Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine for the University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix.
